little white riding hood

well christmas time came and went and my website never got the new photos up. all the hard work of putting in endless hours in to get this done before the holiday and nothin.but i was able to make a few things for my friends at work. including the white hood here i made for kelly! it took me about 6 hours to make or so and the material was all hand me downs so that was free! this was the first hood ive ever made and all i did was simply crochet a rectangle shape big enough to fit around my head and then attach one side making a classic hood shape. then i made a scarf with the remainder of the white yearn and finished it off with a multi colored (pink purple blue tan) yarn to define the edges of the hood better and give it a little more depth.

winter look book

Now that I've got most of my pictures taken for the store section of my website my main focus is finding a beautiful place between New Jersey and Mass to take some pictures for the look book section. I think my sisters house is a good location because it is right in between us and she has a nice big yard. plus it would be nice to be able to warm up in between pictures if we get cold! It's really easy to get to from the high way and it is right next to the CT wine trail. I'm working 6 days a week again. but usually get Tuesdays off. So hopefully Shamby will be able to meet me half way on a week day. if not i will have to request time off and this is going to take a week later then we wanted too. BUT I'm still being patient and figure everything will sell in time and within 3 years i will have a good size inventory to pick from. i think a lot of the stuff i make this summer will come out a lot nicer then the stuff from last year. im def. going to make everything with the smaller yarn like I did with the shirt Ruby bought. Plus, i just heard word from jes that her and her friend were looking at the web site and they want to buy a few things on there! That makes me super excited and gives me a lil extra to look forward to with all this time I've put in to this.

Fall Photo Shoot

today was one long day of pictures out of 131 pictures 81 came out nice. not bad. cant wait to see which ones shamby picks out of the bunch to put on the website!

leg warmers

im leg warmer crazy right now! i just want to keep on crocheting more they are so cute! the next ones i want to make i want to be yellow!!! mustard yellow!!!  and i want them to be high enough that even all scrunched up they are above my knees! omg i cant wait to start making these! but i dont think i have the color yet. i havent gone into the closet to look just yet. but i was thinking i can do a bunch of different color yellows too if i dont have enough of that color. i dont like settling with the yarns i have when i have something in mind but usually i cant find what my mind thinks of in a store. so im always improvising with my initial plan any way. time to go dig these things up!

prepare

 now that i finished my sweater i feel so much relief .now i can start getting prepared for the photo shoot and im so excited. i found this awesome fabric for the back drop at jo anns but it was like 40 bucks for the amount i was looking for and that was all the money in my pocket so i didnt want to spend it all there. im going to start working on some new leg warmers soon and also start working on a new hat. im unhappy with a lot of the yarn i have right now. which isnt unusual for me. but i dont really have the money to drop on a bunch of heady yard right now. so i have to make due with what i have.

YAY!!

so... i got the hook up and am getting some picture taken of my stuff for free. Hodges from my work said he would help me. im going to buy black fabric one of the next few days coming up to use as a back drop. im super excited to have hodges helping me with this project i totally trust his work (mostly his camera) and i just finished my newest sweater and it came out so good. ive been super motivated again to get this work done. and i figured as long as i got the sweater done i dont have to panic as much about inventory.  and can work on things slowly from here on out.

tomorrow im going picture crazy and and going to get nice clothes on and put make up on and get a whole bunch of pictures of all my new things so i can get them up on the website before its too late! i feel like if we cant do a winter look book right away at least we can have some product up for people to look at anyway. i know a lot of people that are interested right now. so much to do not much time to blog!

Glittens

After I blogged last night. i got motivated and finished Lees gloves. (a handicapped man from my work) They came out great. hodges from my work calls them "glittens" because they are glove/mittens! Corny, i know, but yet so catchy!  I cant wait to make more like them! they do take more thought and time so they will be double the price of my fingerless gloves but i think they are much more useful for the winter time since it give u the option to go fingerless!

back on track

    i got together with Shamby and we talked about the website a little bit.  she was positive about the progress we've both made but brought up the fact that were both learning the best ways to make and/or sell everything. now that i get an extra day off each week i can put more time into my craft. i really want to work on more sweaters and hats. i know i said i wasn't good at hats before but i guess ive gotten better over time. i have a good assortment of gloves already and 2 scarfs.plus those are quick to make so if the 2 sell i can make one before the person even receives the last one!

    im super happy with everything thing ive made so far and this time if i dont like it right off the bat i start over until im impressed with it.i rushed it with a few of the shirts in the summer for the photo shoot and i dont like them that much now and i have to go through them and waste more time on them, making them less profitable to me. time = money.im just really happy that Shamby really likes everything ive made and that she still thinks were moving in the right direction too.  i felt my doubts for a moment when i got so worn out from working so much. but now that im getting a steady balance in my life i can afford to dedicate a few hours a week to crochet. and not feel over whelmed because i love money but my main objective is to always have fun doing it. as soon as it becomes a chore i can not bring myself to pick up the yarn and crochet.

sweater time!

what a great time of year! its going to be in the 60s for a high for the first time on saturday. and i just finished my first sweater and it came out ok. i think it will look better once it relaxes a little bit. im going to charge 70 bucks for it.

projects

   there are so many new things im working on. i saw this great idea the other day. there was a girl sitting outside the black sheep with a crochet cozie around her glass mason jar that she used as a coffee mug. this will sell great! with all the college kids trying to re use everything its a great market!it would be fantastic if nick would let me sell them at the deli but idk if he would be down with that.so besides the cozzies  im making a really neat sweater(my first one), a scarf (that im not completely satisfied with),just finished the hat for ryan and just finished a pair of gloves! my friend ruby just bought the white shirt off me! which is so awesome! and a bunch of the girls from my work said they were going to check out the site.so far for the fall line i have...

  and i guess thats it for now. but i got a lot of ideas in my head i hope i get them out before i burn out and i hope they come out to the design i picture in my head. lately i have been so proud of the stuff i make so ryan and i talked about me taking some classes to perfect my art. which i think is a great idea. for a while i felt really good and i felt confidence but now its faded and im trying to rebuild the different ideas and way and thing that im learning to help my stuff apply to every one so everyone can buy it if they want to.

stuck

i feel like my inspiration with my web site has come to a hault. i want to get better pictures up on the site because i feel like a lot of people dont want to buy stuff because the pictures arnt flattering thats for sure. and im definetly unhappy with the way a lot of the shirts came out and my drive to fix them comes as quickly as it goes.my sewing ability isnt as keen as it was a few years ago. i feel as if i dont have a lot of time right now any way even if i wanted to fix them. i always feel like, this is a hobby, i have to do this other thing instead.

the fall line is coming out soon. i cant wait. i made a trip to webs today to get some really awesome new yarn but they were closed. so im thinking fall... fingerless gloves, scarfs shawls, hood woth or with out hoods, and neck wraps for sure! hats were never my strong point so im going to try to stay clear on those.

sold!

i sold the red neck wrap!! it sold for 20 bucks!!! although i was so sad to see it go it was my favorite so i can totally see why some one else would want it too. a lot of the girls at my work like my stuff and now its that time a year again everyone is asking about my stuff! my next mission is more neck wraps!!! god i still need to finish everything i made over the summer!! ekkkk!!!.

steam

i ran out of steam for a while there!!! i think i put way too much hard work into this project and i pushed myself away. i havent crocheted in like 2 weeks!!! ive been wanting to do so many other things instead of crocheting or fixing shirts i already put mad time into. but then i was looking at some of my photos from the shoot and it inspired me to fix the shirts again. i just see so much potental in them.

ive been sticking to mad crafts latley instead of crocheting and its definintly is helping my stress level go down. ive been doing a lot of hula hooping and painting instead. and it feels nice. i know shamby has been busy so i figured i should take time to relax before i get in to deep. i have to get some better pics up if im going to start selling anything off this site. image is everything here.

im run out of crocheting energy! all the inspiration i had has gone away! im still in the middle of making ryans vest but i dont really want to make anything else right now. i feel like all my stuff looks like shit and i dont think any one likes it because the ydont know who i am. so they dont want to buy my stuff. ughh

8-22-11

so im in super blah mode. i want so many things to get done. yet, im so lazy i dont want to do anything! im brushing up on my sewing skills by adding fabric to the bust of my shirts.its def been a long time since ive last put my skills to the test. i may possibly have to go back and fix the first shirt i put fabric on. i completely forgot about bust size and made it straight across with no cup! a beginners mistake!! so i think im going to get some pics of it and see if looks good and then fix it before some one buys it. if they ever do!!! and just move on to another project for now. i need to focus on this a lil more so i can start making money off this!

i finally got the fabric i needed for the shirts but right off the bat i messed up the size of the size it and i got super frusterated so now im just sitting on the computer getting nothing done.

i finally grew up and put fabric behind the chest of my shirts. i guess girls dont want to look like whores as much as i thought! jk!!! i realized that i need to put it under, if only, to make it look legit. all the new clothes ive finished have come out great. so i dont want ppl to not buy my older stuff just because you can really tell the difference in my skill level. i think that if i put fabric backing the chest that it will make the shirt a lot more wearable.and a lot more girls will want to buy it. so this shirt is my first one!

its tough to know how much money is too much money to invest in something before its a bad judgement. right now shamby has put so much of her time and money into selling my clothes, yet nothing is selling. our fb site got over 100 new likes in 1 week and not 1 person bought something. i hope people like the new stuff im making. i hear a lot of people that say they want to buy stuff but i think a lot of people dont like that they have to do it online. shamby made a return policy so hopefully that will help reassure that they will be satisfied with the product.shes doing a great job so far. i just hope she dosent get in over her head!

finally, i got most of my projects done! im just putting some finishing touches on the purple skirt today then im on to the vest. im so happy i waited to finish the vest because now ive learned so many new ways and techniques  to make all different shaped vest, shirts and sweaters!  im very excited to start all the new projects for winter. i got my eye on this book that blows my mind and is going to take my work to another level. beautiful shawls and sweaters! so many more possibilities and designs are flowing through my head! cant wait to put it all to work.

since the website has gone up my ideas have been flowing. i've been learning so many more techniques i cant keep up with all the creative juices flowing right now! my life has become jammed packed with projects i want to finish! im slowly completing each new project i started and i only have to finish the skirt and the vest. i have so many more ideas i want to get out there! i wish i didnt have to work all the time so i had more time to crochet thats why i hope over time this will all pay off and i can start taking time off work. start going to craft fairs instead!
